In the last few months, many of you may have become familiar with the situation surrounding baby Drae, the infant son of Gretchen and Zach Taylor. He needs your prayers! Drae has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures since his birth in December, and is currently in critical condition at Children’s Hospital NICU in Pittsburgh. Please pray for the healing of his body and peace for his family. The following is an account of his ongoing status:

August 29, 2011

Drae is now in a step-down unit, which means his condition has improved enough that he may soon get to go home! Praise God for His healing hand! Your continued prayers are appreciated, for both Drae and his family, in this time of transition.

June 27, 2011

From Nancy Meredith via Judy Hall:

Drae’s condition continues to fluctuate daily.

His family is asking for the complete healing of his tracheostomy and his ongoing battle with extensive swelling, for feeding tolerance, and for successful family care training. They ask for continued prayer that he can be weaned off all strong medications as well. Thank you so much for your prayers on Drae’s behalf.

June 13, 2011

From Nancy Meredith via Judy Hall:

Baby Drae pulled out his own ventilator cord and seems to be doing better. Please continue to pray for him!

June 2, 2011

From Nancy Meredith:

Drae has been re-paralyzed and undergone another surgery to try to determine why he is now unable to eat. Your continued prayers and support are very much appreciated.

May 27, 2011

From Nancy Meredith:

The results of Drae’s most recent MRI showed unfavorable results, and the family is asking for continued prayer for his healing. He’s currently in critical condition at Children’s Hospital NICU in Pittsburgh.

May 6, 2011

From Nancy Meredith:

Drae’s surgery went well. Praise God! The doctors are now trying to take Drae off the paralyzing medications. Thank you for your continued prayers!

May 5, 2011

From Nancy Meredith:

Drae will have surgery today at 12:30 pm. The doctors believe the two infections are under control and they plan to place his organs back in his body and close the area. Thank you for your continued prayer.

April 28, 2011

From Nancy Meredith:

Drae is still receiving blood platelets and still has a fever; there are two infections they are trying to combat – the goal is to get three “negative” days to feel they have stopped the infections. His body is extremely swollen and he needs a balance of taking fluids and urinating. His gases are good but his organs are sill being kept outside of his body. Thank you so much for your continued prayer!

April 25, 2011

From Nancy Meredith

Drae’s heart rate has been up around 200, green fluid is in the connected tubes, his kidneys are shutting down, and “life or death situation” was the terminology used. Thank you so much for your prayers!

April 15, 2011

Gretchen and Zach Taylor request prayer for their son, Dravius (Drae) Taylor, who is in the Children’s Hospital NICU in Pittsburgh. Drae has been in the hospital for four months and has undergone multiple surgeries.

May 10, 2011

Update from Nancy Meredith:

Drae began to wake up yesterday morning, which is a huge praise! He did have a small seizure so they are now monitoring his brain waves. He has been put on more medication – please pray that he will be weaned from all medication soon. Thank you for praying!

May 18, 2011

Update from Nancy Meredith:

The doctors have found a new infection and while trying to address this they also continue to make efforts to wean Drae off the powerful and dangerous drugs. He also has not fully “woken up.” Please pray for healing of this infection, for Drae to fully wake up, and be free of all medications. Thank you!
